Lumbar Fusion PDF Print E-mail

Lumbar fusion is a common technique used to treat unstable spine conditions such as spondylolisthesis.  Lumbar laminectomy is frequently combined with fusion to first decompress pinched nerves, and then stabilize the vertebral bones to prevent further nerve compression and pain.  These combined procedures enjoy high success rates in relieving the back and radiating leg pain common to spondylolisthesis.

Fusion can be accomplished by a variety of techniques.  Ultimately the goal of any fusion procedure is to create spinal stability by inducing unstable vertebra to grow together or “fuse” together.

We specialize in the treatment of spondylolisthesis at Oasis Neck and Back.  We invite you to review the experiences of real patients who have chosen laminectomy and fusion in the treatment of spondylolisthesis by visiting our Patient’s Stories Project.
