Kyphoplasty is a recently developed technique in the treatment of vertebral compression fractures.
In this procedure, liquid bone cement is injected through a needle into the fractured vertebra. This bone cement hardens in a few minutes, and is thought to relieve pain by instantly stabilizing the fractured bony fragments.
